Sunday Roast

One of the English culinary traditions is Sunday Roast. A common way to spend Sunday afternoon and/or early evening is enjoying a hearty meal, a comforting ale or tea, and reading the newspapers in a local pub. We did just that yesterday with the Smithdahls. Having two toddlers along negated the reading the newspaper part but we still had a lovely time and delicious meal.

Here is the gang deciding what to order...

We decided first to try some different ales. These were quite nice and potent too! The Golden Pride had 8.5% alcohol! Notice Mac trying to score a sip.

We tried the chicken roast with homemade Yorkshire pudding, roast veggies, roast potatoes, sweet potato mash and of course, chicken.

Steph chose the roast beef roast.

Ian ordered the Jugged Hare, the dish the pub is named for. It consist of a stewed rabbit served in a pastry and is often served with the blood from the hare. I couldn't bring myself to try it and while he said it wasn't the best hare he has had, the gravy was apparently delicious.

And we ordered the vegetarian bangers and mash for the kiddos to share.

Gabe loved it!

Here he is thanking is mommy and uncle for a delicious meal.

Sister and brother with their kiddos.

A cuddle from Mac is the best way to end a meal!

Very cool -- Sunday Roast should be a tradition we adopt I think. Sounds VERY pleasant.

Great photos...

Love you

Hey Jeremy, D'one and Mackenzie,

Glad to see and read all is well!

Golden Pride is a fantastic ale. I'm jealous!

Cheers.
