22 months

*Edit: Jeremy reminded me of some Mac musings that I should include.

Mac turned 22 months old this past Friday, the 14th. We can hardly believe that she will be 2 in only 2 short months! It's fitting that we do a bit of an update on all things Mac this month as 2 is currently her FAVORITE number.

1. You can count to ten. Four, six and seven seem to be the trickiest but a little reminder from mom or dad and you're on your way. You also know most of your colors, a few shapes and a few letters.

2. TWO is your favorite number and yellow is your favorite color or at least your favorite color to say. In fact when counting you often say, "1,2, 3, 2!-trying to sneak in your fav number anywhere you can.

2. You love to jump. And you REALLY love it when mom and dad jump with you. Especially on the bed:)

3. When you ask for something like 'milk?' and we respond with 'you want milk?' you respond with "okay!" or "okaaay." like it was our idea all along.

4. For the last couple of weeks you have started shouting 'bye, bye!' super loud and excitedly when we are leaving your room for bed and nap time. It's nice that bed time isn't a struggle for you but we're glad you are still in your crib so you don't have too much fun going to sleep.

5. Some of your favorite foods are snacks. You love cheese, raisins, cereal bars, milk and apple juice. You especially love it if you can sit on the counter, open the cupboard and pick your own snack. And you always say "bareful" for careful.

6. You love music class and dancing around but still only sing the first few words of a song before wanting someone to take over. But you'll do all of the actions for lots of songs.

7. You love to help cook. Every morning you help daddy put the cheese into the eggs and help mommy however you can.

8. You love to be tickled and to tickle.

9. You love blankies. Especially snuggling up to watch a movie or read books or using one to play 'nigh-nigh' on mom and dad's bed. You make sure to announce "I awake" before any thinks you might actually be going to sleep though.

10. You say 'toot' for a toot or for going poop or for private parts. Your dad thinks it's hilarious how you shout it out but mom is trying to teach you to be a bit more discreet.

11. When daddy gets you in the morning you say 'mama?' 'mama?' then 'mama night-night'
If mama gets you up then you say it about daddy. This is major progress for you as you used to really, really want mommy with you at all times. Now daddy is just as good if not better!

12. You love cheering for your self 'yah mac!' and like to label whose is what, especially if it yours. And you have now decided that you should be President, not Obama.

12. Elmo is still your favorite toy. When we come home you like to ring the doorbell and when we ask "who's home?", you respond with "Elmo!" and then race to find him to make sure he kept a good watch over the house while we were gone.

13. You hate to be embarrassed and if you accidentally hurt someone or something you run away and hide so we're working on the "accidents happen" lesson and that sorry is a very important and helpful word.

14. You are OBSESSED with toes. Especially your own.

15. If you want us to join you somewhere, play with you, or stop doing whatever we are doing you say "walk?", grab our hand and try to pick us up or drag us to come with you.

16. I mentioned that you love singing and often don't want to finish a song. But if mommy or daddy try and sing along with a CD or movie you say, "no mommy!" or "no daddy!". I guess the embarrassment starts early.

This is a great stage for all of us, you are learning new things and sharing them with us everyday. As parents it's such a treat to get a glimpse of what's going on in that mind of yours and to see more and more of your developing personality. Let the good times continue!

You brought joy to the heart of someone that needed it today. It is amazing to hear of all the things you are doing and a joy that your mom shares with all of us. It is truly a miracle to watch young minds grow and to see your increasing independence--can't wait to see you at Christmas. (...and toot is not a bad word...)

Love, hugs and kisses to you, your folks and Elmo too!!

It's amazing how much she's grown. Although I must say that whoever said that things get better when they can talk must have been eating some magic brownies or something... ;P Just wait until Mac starts "testing" you and makes comments after throwing things on the floor like, "Am I being naughty, Mama? Am I???"

In case you're not sure of my response, it was, "Ummmmm, yea, you little sheeney!!!"
