Field Trip

Mac took her first field trip on Tuesday morning with one of our playgroups, The St. Vincent's Family Project.

We went to Harrod's Department store to visit Santa's Grotto (or cave, I guess they like an Italian spin on Santa here in London). Visiting Santa at a department store in London is a BIG deal. You have to get a ticket to reserve a time and these tickets are available months in advance and are gone within hours.

So we were excited for the opportunity to get a peek into one of the 'hot spots' in London. Actually, I was excited. Mac was most excited for the bus ride.

And she was terrified of Santa. She clung to me and when I had to put her down for a second to help another mom she looked at Santa and closed and covered up her eyes saying, "eyes, eyes, eyes." Or rather, get that scary, hairy man out of my view!

Mac thinks Mother Christmas is getting way to close. So did I.

I have the picture we got taken of our group with Sant aon my desk and had to turn it around because Mac covered her eyes and started tearing up as soon as she spotted it.

Luckily, the best part of the trip was yet to come. A visit to the Science Museum. We only played in the basement children's area but that was plenty of fun for our group.

Coming through the carwash.

Mac and friends playing it up at the water table.

Concentrating carefully to not miss a step. (Notice we are down to the t-shirt now, or vest as they are know here, she was soaked!)

The blue sign says the display is out of order. Mac still had fun with it for a good 10 minutes.

The Science Museum as not seen the last of us. And Mac can't wait to take her cousins Liam and Nolan when they come to visit!
